Theodora Sergiou
Theodora Sergiou has over 25 years of experience in the Swimming Pool Construction Industry; she has been leading the way for women in the Pool & Spa Industry since the age of sixteen when she first began learning how to manage, encourage and even lead in what is a traditionally a male dominated environment. Her entrepreneur skills began while working after school, weekend, and vacations with her parent, Nicolas & Flora Christofi, who founded Nicholas Pools Inc. Upon their retirement in 2003, Theodora and her husband Sotiris purchased the family business and have strived to grow and improve it. Nicholas Pools Inc. has blossomed into one of the Ocean and Monmouth Counties largest Backyard Retailers, specialize in Vinyl Liner Inground Swimming Pools.
Though Theodora began her early education only speaking Greek, she soon overcame the language barrier to be the first person in her family to graduate college and receive an MBA degree. Theodora graduated from Georgian Court University with a BSc in Business Management, and a Certificate in International Marketing. She continued her education receiving a Master of Business administration Degree from Rider University. Upon graduating she traveled to her parent’s homeland of Cyprus, accepting a position as Professor of Marketing and Management at PA college. She credits that experience with giving her and opportunity to learn many organizational skills while adapting to a completely different environment. She later married and lived with her husband in London, England until her return to the United States in 1999 to assume a management position at Nicholas Pools Inc.
When not working Theodora is busy with her family, she is Chairperson to the Annual Saint Barbara Greek Orthodox Fashion show, supports and Volunteers for countless charities and fund raiser, teaches Sunday School, speaks about water safety at summer camp programs, and is often quoted in new articles and magazines about the Swimming Pool & Spa Industry Her enthusiasm, drive and optimism fuel both her own efforts and the efforts of those around her, making her the very picture of a role model. Theodora is excited about her opportunities to inspire and guide young women towards their goals and believes that every woman has the power within herself to become a success. As she explains, “ No dream is out of reach if you work towards it with your heart and soul.”
